Back home in Dallas, Von Miller will relish his 37th season.
Miller is anticipated to sign with the Cowboys, according to a Sunday report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Shortly after, Dallas declared that they had reached an agreement with the linebacker.
Miller, who was up in DeSoto, Texas, and attended Texas A&M for his college career, naturally waited until the summer was almost finished before joining a new team, but it appears that he still has a lot to offer as a pass rusher.
Despite starting just three of 17 games last year, he led the Commanders in career sacks with nine, making him the current active leader with 138.5. That figure was the highest since the Broncos and Rams combined for 9.5 sacks in 2021.

OXNARD, California Von Miller, a seasoned outside linebacker and one of the NFL’s most accomplished pass rushers, has reached an agreement with the Cowboys.
Miller, 37, is from Desoto, Texas, which is only 30 minutes from AT&T Stadium. He will now have the opportunity to play for his hometown team in his fifteenth NFL season.
Miller expressed interest in moving to Dallas in a number of social media posts earlier in the offseason, including an Instagram photo of himself wearing a Cowboys uniform. That has now been achieved.
Miller played in all 17 games for the Washington Commanders, Dallas’ NFC East foe, during the 2025 season, recording nine sacks, 26 tackles, and six tackles for loss. With just 420 snaps—the third fewest he has ever played in a season—Miller managed to do all of that.
Miller won two Super Bowls: the Rams in 2022 and the Broncos in 2016, when he was named Super Bowl MVP. Eight Pro Bowls, three first-team All Pro seasons, the 2011 defensive rookie of the year award, and a spot on the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-2010s squad are among his accomplishments.
Miller now leads the NFL in all-time sacks with 138.5, which is 6.5 more than the second-closest player, Cam Jordan of New Orleans. Miller shares the ninth-highest number of sacks in NFL history with Hall of Famer and former Cowboy DeMarcus Ware.
Miller has been successful in getting the quarterback to the ground outside of the regular season. With 10.5 playoff sacks, Miller leads all active NFL players in 16 career playoff games and is tied for 16th place in NFL history.
Rashan Gary, one of Dallas’ 2026 selections, Malachi Lawrence, and now Miller are the three first-round selections in the Cowboys’ outside linebacker room. They are paired alongside Tyrus Wheat, James Houston, Sam Williams, Marist Liufau, and Donovan Ezeiruaku, the Cowboys’ 2025 second-round selection.
Parker remarked, “It’s a younger group, but it’s a hungry group,” in reference to Dallas’ June outside linebacker room. “I believe that Marcus [Dixon], Chidera [Uzo-Diribe], Demeitre Brim, and BT [Jordan] have done an excellent job with that group. I believe we will have the desired play style. They want to be held responsible. We’ll be able to fulfilll their desire to be in charge of halting the run and influencing the quarterback.”
In addition to adding to the Cowboys’ rotation, one of the league’s most seasoned pass rushers just joined the same young room, helping to shape the next generation of Dallas’ outside linebackers.
